This award is specifically designed to assist and encourage women aspiring to a career in cinematography.

It is not intended for directing, producing, writing, or any craft other than cinematography.

We do recognize that exposure to and an understanding of all of the crafts is one of the benefits of the education provided by the USC School of Cinematic Arts, and so recognize that your specific area of focus at this time, and/or roles in which you have spent time on advanced projects, may not be immediately relevant to your long term goal. You must, however, show clear evidence that cinematography is your driving passion.

Our specific eligibility requirements are:

  • The student must be female.
  • The student must be currently enrolled in the USC School of Cinematic Arts graduate or undergraduate production program.
  • The student must be enrolling in Advanced Cinematography (CTPR 557) in the Fall 2012 semester. (Please note that we reserve the right to make an exception to this
rule for a qualified candidate who will use the scholarship for
development of her cinematography reel as she would be doing in CTPR
    557.)

In order to qualify, you must provide a reel, a faculty reference, and honestly respond to all of the questions in our application form.

Award recipients will be required to show proof of enrollment in CTPR 557 (Advanced Cinematography), or of the project for which they will use the funds and film stock, before we will release the monetary or in-kind portion of the award, and before we connect the recipient with their mentor.

Award recipients will also be required to agree to a code of conduct with their mentor before we establish the connection between mentor and recipient.

Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
